Hey there! Things have been going well recently here in Dunedin. Today was a busy day for me.
I had an assignment due today that's worth 15% of my final grade in my COSC 242 paper (Kiwis
call classes "papers."). We had to define the implementation for an abstract data type that
can store and sort strings using either binary search trees or red-black trees. Yes, as you may
have guessed, it was incredibly exciting. Just call me sometime and I'll describe it to you
(yes, I am joking).
Well, the picture above was taken on the Franz-Josef Glacier. I went there early on during my
travels while I had my mid-semester break. I went with five other Americans: Heather (a girl
on the Butler program), Maren, Trisha, DarcyCaryl (three girls on a program through Arcadia),
and Luke (Maren's boyfriend visiting from Minnesota). Hiking on the glacier is certainly one
of the most amazing things I've ever done. It was simply amazing. Perhaps I'll get some pages
up of all the pictures I took during that week. Anyway, after the glacier hike, we parted ways
with Heather, and the five of us remaining traveled about 10 hours north to Nelson for a night,
then two more hours to Picton where we embarked on a beautiful four day hike near Marlborough
Sound (see picture). Then, I traveled back to Dunedin with DarcyCaryl via Christchurch
where we spent two days sightseeing. Overall, it was nice to see so many beautiful places, but
it was good to get back home to Dunedin. I had only met the Arcadian group the day before we left
for the week!
Anyway, it was really good to get my assignment finished and handed in today. It's nice to sit
down and work on my site which I've barely touched over the past few weeks except for my
Harrod & Funck pages. I'm just sitting here now in my living
room with my flatmates watching a rugby match between Canterbury (the NY Yankees of NZ rugby) and
Auckland. Canterbury is ahead 18-11, and I'll be shocked if they lose. I don't know what I'll
end up doing tonight, but perhaps I'll see what Paul is up to.
This week has also been good because not only did James Taylor's new CD October Road arrive,
but I also got a book of James Taylor guitar tablature from Jim and Rhoda Mock! That was so
awesome (thanks guys!). I have tried a few of the songs, but I'm sure I will pore over it
during my summer in Wellington. Canterbury has won offically now by the same score mentioned
eariler. So much for the underdogs tonight! Well, that's all for now. Keep
checking, and I'll try to have a new update up at least every week or so. This is new for me, so
we'll see what I can handle. Thanks for visiting my page! I hope you have a great day and God
bless.
