Wow. Once again, it's been quite a while since I last posted to the Class Projects/Extras page.
mathEmatics is a collection of web pages with a basic calculator and a pretty robust base
converter that I wrote from scratch. I constructed these pages while learning php and css in my
first few weeks at IonZoft Inc. My whole
Benworld site is now all php! Which is really cool. Anyway, I hope you enjoy mathEmatics.
Not surprisingly, after I wrote the base converter, I learned
that there was a function that did the exact same thing! But I learned and accomplished a lot
by doing it all on my own.
Here's one for all of you troopers who made it through winter break without
anything new on the class projects page! Your patience is astounding. How do
you do it? This is from our second lab of the year in Computer Science 132.
We are learning how to use Java and, in this project, we were free to draw any
picture we wished using Java and the Java packages prescribed in the lab. So,
since I love you all very dearly, I've decided to share this artistic gem with
all of you.
Well, everyone, this is the culmination of my Computer Science 131 course. Our final project
and here it is for your enjoyment, and I do mean enjoyment. It's HangBen! This game is
much like the traditional game of hangman, only you get to hang me!!! It's what I like to call
"virtual revenge." Sound like fun?
I know it does. So, I'd like to thank my dad for the graphics and Ryan Draving for the digital
camera. Enjoy!!
I'm sure that at some point in your life you've been confronted with the dilemma
of converting some type of measurement in our flawless English System to the inferior
Metric System or vice versa. Well, these complicated calculations will cease now that
you have found the key to your happiness in this system converter. Yes, all your fruitless
searches may end. It takes a measurement in English or Metric and converts it to the
appropriate value in the other system. Enjoy it, but, please, don't let your new
measurement prowess go to your head. The satisfaction of multiple conversions
is just around the corner! ...and yes, of course you are welcome.
Well, what can I say, I'm here to help you have fun, and this is just another
way in which this truth is manifesting itself here at Benworld. Although it
is somewhat short and crude (not well polished to the layperson), I think you'll enjoy it.
And, by the way, this was a homework assignment for me, so you shouldn't even
be expecting much in the first place--I'm going above and beyond the call of duty here.
However, as you know already,
I'm always sure to come through with yet another bit of down home
entertainment for your pleasure and no one else's. Now go have yourself a ball, it's
Mad Lib time.
Well, if you're anything like me, time is at a premium.
That is to say, if there is a way for me to save more time,
then I will do my best to utilize that opportunity to my benefit.
I often feel like I'm running late, and I could always use an extra minute or two.
Well, to all of you who feel the way I do, the answer to your prayers,
dreams, hopes, and desires is finally here in a new and never before seen
way.
Since I've already established that you and I are much alike, I know you
understand me when I say that I just can't get enough of the song "Old
MacDonald." It is a tune and has been in the Billboard top 50 songs since
the 18th century. Also you would understand that we all have our very
own, unique favorite animals and sounds to put in the time tested classic.
Well, you remember the last time you sat down at your computer to
type out say three verses of this excellent song? It took you longer than
the Nile River, am I right? Well, now I have developed the technology
that allows you to print out three verses of "Old MacDonald" with your very
favorite animals and sounds literally in a matter of seconds. I'm here for you.
It's time to hit "control" + "B" everyone, because you're gonna want to bookmark this puppy
(arf-arf)!! Enjoy.
Another piece of homework candy for your enjoyment. Introducing...
I guess this isn't for everyone. However, if you are taking computer science
here at Dickinson College, then this site is for you. Sit back, relax, and
enjoy a solitary moment without calculators.
